| The
Adam Bailey Foundation has raised $35,000 for the design and construction of an
accessible multipurpose basketball and tennis facility at Pine Tree Camp. The
courts will be ready for the 2006 summer camping season. Adam was a huge sports
fan and this project continues to honor that passion by providing a sports facility
designed with special needs campers in mind. Support for this project has come
from all our fundraising efforts and donations by supports of the Adam Bailey
Foundation.
The
Adam Bailey Nature Trail is located on the 250 acre Pine Tree Camp in Rome, Maine.
The camp recently obtained the acreage where the nature trail is being developed.
The Adam Bailey Foundation is the primary financial source for the trails development.
Through the volunteer efforts of Bud & Sandy Huntley and Roger Riquier the camp
property was recently surveyed, engineered and designed. As of the spring of 2003
there is a one mile rough cut of the trail.
The goal of the nature trail
is to develop a state-of-the-art wheel chair accessible experience. On the drawing
board are a fishing platform and numerous wooden bridges and walkways. The trails
potential is only limited by the imagination. Adam had a keen imagination
and loved adventure so the trail will take on those elements. The entrance
way to the trail was built by Adam's fellow scouts of troop 149 in Bridgton, Maine.
Brian Floster headed up the entrance way and earned an Eagle Badge for his efforts.
Numerous hours and efforts were put in by Brian. In the spring of 2003
an ATV called a Mule was purchased by the foundation for transportation to and
from the trail. A ribbon cutting
ceremony and continued developments are on the drawing board for the summer of
2003. Specific needs for the trail may be found in the wish
list section of the site. Feel free to contact us by e-mail or phone with
thoughts and ideas. Again, the trail is only limited by the imagination.

October 27, 2003 "...let me add my thanks for
the $10,000 donation to Pine Tree Camp from members of the Owens-Manzi Corporation.
Your ongoing support has been so important to the programming and services at
Pine Tree Camp. I've had many an opportunity to walk the Adam Bailey Memorial
Nature Trail and it is beautiful! Winterizing the dining hall will increase our
ability to reach out to even more people with disabilities and provide programming
beyond the summer season." Sincerely, Anne Marsh Deputy Executive
Director Pine Tree Society January 23, 2003 "
On behalf of The Adam Bailey Foundation we want to acknowledge a donation made
by John and Gloria Nicely in Memory of Olive Gene Nicely. It's an honor they chose
this foundation to support in her passing. On Behalf of The Adam bailey Foundation
we offer our sincere condolences and Thank You for allowing Financial Donations
on Olive Gene's Behalf." October 10, 2002 "I
am writing to thank the Adam Bailey Foundation for the generous donation $10,000
to be used for continued development of the Adam Bailey Nature Trail at Pine Tree
Camp. The ongoing support of the foundation is greatly appreciated and largely
impacts the ability of the Pine Tree Society to provide quality and increased
programs and services to children and young adults with physical and developmental
disabilities. I had the opportunity to walk the nature trail at Pine Tree Camp
several times this summer. As I am sure you will agree, the Adam Bailey Nature
Trail meanders through a beautiful piece of land and it is quite exciting to think
that this trail will be enjoyed by many for years to come." Greg Ouellette
Executive Director Pine Tree Society June 23, 2001
" I wanted to drop a note to thank you for your part in the donation of of
16 hospital beds from Calais regional Hospital for Pine Tree Camp. As you know,
it is often the behind-the-scenes efforts of people who provide the impetus for
wonderful opportunities for camp. This is certainly the case in this instance.
Phil McVicor and Wayne Sammer had a truck with the beds arrive at camp and they
are being put to good use." Peter D. Phair Director of Services Pine
